Look, we're not gonna pretend we started in some fancy garage with a dream. ChronoQuester came about because a few of us got tired of watching beautiful old buildings get demolished when they could've been transformed into something incredible.
It was 2012 when three architects sat down at a coffee shop on Queen Street – yeah, that's literally how we picked our office location later – and decided there had to be a better way to honor Toronto's architectural past while pushing forward into the future.
We've spent over a decade now figuring out how contemporary design doesn't have to erase history. Sometimes the most innovative thing you can do is preserve what's already there and reimagine it. That's our whole thing, really.
These aren't just words on a wall – this is how we actually work
Every building's got a story. We dig into the original structure, understand its DNA, then build from there. Heritage isn't a constraint – it's our starting point.
Honestly, the greenest building is the one that's already standing. We retrofit, we optimize, we use materials that'll last another hundred years. No greenwashing here.
You're not hiring us to dictate how you'll live or work. We listen, we collaborate, we iterate. Your space, your vision – we just help make it real.
Tech for tech's sake doesn't interest us. But if there's a new material or method that solves a real problem? We're all over it. Always learning, always testing.
We're a mix of historians, dreamers, engineers, and problem-solvers who actually like each other
Principal Architect
Sarah's the one who'll spend hours in city archives tracking down original building plans. She's got this uncanny ability to see what a space wants to become. Licensed for 18 years, she's still the first one on-site every project.
Design Director
Marcus brings the contemporary edge. Trained in Rotterdam, worked in Singapore, settled in Toronto because – his words – "the heritage stock here is unmatched." He's obsessed with material innovation and somehow makes it all look effortless.
Project Management Lead
Jen keeps everything on track – budgets, timelines, contractor relations. She's got a background in structural engineering, which means she catches problems before they happen. Clients love her because she actually returns calls.

Toronto's changing fast. Every month, we see buildings with real character threatened by quick-flip developments. We're not anti-progress – far from it. But we believe the best new buildings are often the ones that were here all along.
There's something special about walking into a space that has layers of history but feels completely current. That's the sweet spot we're always chasing. When a client walks through their restored home or office and gets emotional because we've captured something they didn't even know they wanted – that's why we show up.
We've worked on Victorian rowhouses, mid-century commercial spaces, abandoned industrial buildings, and brand-new construction that needed to fit into historic neighborhoods. Each project teaches us something new.

Whether it's a heritage restoration, a new build, or something in between – let's talk about what's possible. First consultation's on us, and there's no pressure. Just good conversation about architecture.
